Delta House History

HISTORY

The first facility was purchased in 1979 and named “The Delta House.” It was located at 2308 Haskell Avenue, Columbia, SC 29204. The purchase of The Delta House was initiated by members of a public service organization for the purpose of serving the community. The vision was to provide a venue to offer programs and services that would impact the lives of people in Midlands communities.

On February 20, 1980, Delta House, Incorporated was chartered by the SC Office of the Secretary of State and is recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. On February 24, 1993 the Delta House on Haskell Avenue was sold and on June 27, 1992 the property was purchased at 5307 Fairfield Rd, Columbia, SC 29203. This property was redeveloped into the Delta Life Development Center where it remains today.
